Our Story

A local landmark for generations, at the corner Horley grew up around.

Locals have called this corner the Kings Head crossroads for over a century.

The pub's story starts on Bonehurst Road, where an earlier Kings Head was lost to fire. A new one was raised here at the junction of Balcombe Road and Smallfield Road, and the town grew up around it through the years before the First World War and the decades after.

A major refurbishment in 2018 kept the easy charm of the old corner building and made more of the garden, the duck-egg bar and the welcome painted over it.

independent, and proud of it

Under Ryan

Today the Kings Head is independent under Ryan: fewer ties and more choice. That means local producers in the kitchen, rotating guest ales and small batch spirits at the bar, and a team that knows your name and remembers your order.
